LifeGroup Descriptions

Sessions begin the week of the SEPT. 8TH 2024 via Zoom. You can choose from any of these Groups in the Fall:

SEASONED SAINT'S LIFEGROUPS

THE BOOK OF REVELATION

Facilitated by The Goodwin’s Mon at 6:30 PM. HYBRID

The Book of Revelation Study w/ Stephen Armstrong

The concluding book of the New Testament can seem daunting: it’s complex, full of unfamiliar imagery and numerous allusions to the rest of the Bible. Even more, interpretations of Revelation in Christian and secular popular culture can further obscure our understanding and lead us to

misguided assumptions. What does the Bible actually say about this book, if we rely on common-sense interpretation of the plain sense of Scripture?

Facilitated by The Goodwin’s Mon at 6:30 PM. Hybrid at the church.

J20 COUPLE'S LIFEGROUPS

The Art of Marriage

In this six-session series made in partnership with FamilyLife, discover a transformative marriage resource designed to help you explore new levels of intimacy, communication, and connection with your spouse. Whether you’re a newlywed or have been married for decades, this series can be your path to a stronger, more beautiful masterpiece of God’s handiwork. Trailer

WOMEN'S LIFEGROUPS

"Titus 2 Gurl That’s U 2! A Dialogue Between the Aunties & the Nieces by Min. Dagne Barton"

No matter our age, there are women older than us and wiser than us that have already been through our stage of life. Likewise, there is someone younger than us and less experienced than us that could use our counsel and example. Even more powerful is the fact we can each learn from and gain from each other. It’s interesting to point out that in Titus 2 the women were the only category of people that Paul did NOT tell Titus to teach. He tells Titus to have the older woman teach the younger women. We have an important responsibility here as women. And this is not limited by a set age and/or marital status. This LifeGroup is going to show us some things about how powerful women dialogue and teach across age groups.

The Faith-Rest Life by R.B. Thieme

The Faith-Rest Life is a life of peace designed for US believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. This life is characterized by a moment by moment, tranquility, happiness, and stability, but how can you have this rest when you are surrounded by the pressures, adversity and disasters in this world? God wants you to do only one thing—trust him, believe his word mixed the promises from the Bible with faith. If you trusted him for the greatest thing he could ever provide, which is salvation, then you can trust him for the lesser things—solutions to your problems and circumstances. That is what The Faith-Rest Life will teach you trusting God in the midst of everything you may face in this world and in your life.

GO LIFEGROUPS

Our Black History Class:

The Importance, History, & Heritage of Black Culture w/ Dr. Barabara Washington

A call to action is warranted in our days to listen to the past and learn from those who have sacrificially gone before us to guide us forward even as there are those opposing forces who would choose to refuse to allow true liberty and masquerade in attempts to undo any progress already made. It has always been the mission of the Church to educate its people when evil reprehensively attempts to erase our identity and evade any responsibility. This course is designed to allow anyone, especially high schoolers on up, to survey our history and heritage to assuage the onslaught against us and hedge our gains even as we seek to bring about further restoration. Join Dr. Barbara Washington on this journey to explore (and for some revisit) our past to instill in us the resolve to make headway against the current rising tides of injustice. It is time for an intergenerational call to arms for the days ahead. Only together when we stand united can we tend to the needful in this present darkness.

Facilitated by Dr. Barbara Washington on Mondays at 6:30 PM.

The Conscious Caregiver: A Mindful Approach to Caring for Your Loved One Without Losing Yourself! By Linda Abbit

Being a caregiver can be a difficult role. It requires patience, tenderness, selflessness, and hard work. Providing care for someone, whether it’s a parent, a loved one, or as a professional requires a high level of self-love and self-care. But while it may be a rewarding experience to care for a loved one, the emotional and physical stress of caregiving can lead to burnout and exhaustion—causing caregivers to put themselves and their own well-being in the background.

How can you fulfill your role as a caregiver without losing yourself? Conscious Caregiver teaches you how to navigate caring for your loved one, whether it’s full-time in-house caregiving or hiring support from outside services. With information on how to talk to your loved ones about the situation, handle the emotional stress, stay financially secure, and take the time to care for yourself, this guide can help you care for your loved one and yourself at the same time.
