CONNECTED Card FAQ & Help

HOW DO I KNOW WHEN SOMEONE IS READY
to Hear the Gospel?
Sharing the Gospel is not about pressure—it’s about discernment. God is already at work in people’s hearts. Our role is to recognize when He’s opening the door.
REMEMBER THIS WORD: L.I.S.T.E.N.
L — Life Questions
They ask deeper questions like:
- “What’s my purpose?”
- “Why does life feel empty?”
- “Is there more to this?”
➡ Spiritual curiosity is a sign of readiness.
I — In Pain or Transition
They are walking through:
- Loss, grief, or disappointment
- Big changes or crises
- A season of uncertainty
➡ Pain often opens hearts to truth.
S — Seeking Prayer or Help
They say things like:
- “Can you pray for me?”
- “I need peace.”
- “I’m trying to get my life together.”
➡ They are already reaching toward God.
T — Trust Is Present
They:
- Open up personally
- Ask for your opinion
- Feel safe around you
➡ The Gospel travels best through relationship.
E — Exposed to Your Faith
They notice something different in you:
- “Why are you so hopeful?”
- “How do you stay calm?”
- “Church really matters to you, doesn’t it?”
➡ Your life has made them curious about God.
N — No Resistance
They listen without mocking, rushing, or shutting you down—even if they don’t fully agree.
➡ Openness matters more than agreement.
THE SIMPLE RULE
If they are asking, hurting, or curious—and you have peace—share.
A PRAYER BEFORE YOU SHARE
“Lord, is this a moment to speak—or a moment to listen?”
REMEMBER:
You don’t save anyone—God does.
You just
show up, listen, and speak when He opens the door.

WHAT’S NEXT?
After Someone Accepts Christ
When someone says “yes” to Jesus, it’s just the beginning—not the end. New believers need community, Scripture, and consistent care.
1. CELEBRATE THE DECISION
Let them know:
- Heaven is celebrating (Luke 15:7)
- This is the most important decision they will ever make
- They are now part of God’s family
Say something simple:
“I’m proud of you, and God is so pleased with this step.”
2. INVITE THEM INTO COMMUNITY
Faith grows best in community, not isolation.
Explain:
- Church is where we grow, heal, and learn together
- Nobody is meant to walk with Jesus alone
Do this immediately:
- Invite them to
worship with you
- Offer to sit with them
- Help them feel expected—not like a guest
“I’d love for you to come to church with me this Sunday.”
3. GIVE THEM A BIBLE
God’s Word is essential for growth.
- Give them a Bible
right away if possible
- Encourage them to start with
John or
Psalms
- Let them know it’s okay if they don’t understand everything yet
Tip:
Churches can
pre-purchase Bibles so no new believer leaves empty-handed.
“This is God’s Word—it will help guide you in this new life.”
4. PRAY WITH THEM AGAIN
Close the moment by praying:
- Thanksgiving for salvation
- Peace and protection
- Strength for their new walk with Christ
Keep it simple and encouraging.
5. STAY CONNECTED
The follow-up matters just as much as the moment.
Do these things:
- Exchange contact information
- Check in within the first week
- Send a prayer, scripture, or encouragement
- Invite them again—don’t assume one invite is enough
“I’ll be praying for you, and I’m here if you have questions.”
6. WALK WITH THEM 👣
New believers don’t need perfection—they need presence.
- Answer questions honestly
- Share your own journey
- Encourage prayer and Scripture
- Help them take their next step (baptism, class, group)
REMEMBER:
You didn’t just lead someone to Christ—
you helped introduce them to a new way of life.
Connection leads to growth. Growth leads to transformation.
