How Deep Is Your Love?

Pericope: Rom 5:6-11 Romans 5:6-11 6 You see, at just the right

time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7

Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a

good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God

demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still

sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Since we have now been justified by

his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath

through him! 10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were

reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more,

having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11 Not

only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus

Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Sermon Title: How Deep Is Your Love?

Vs. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:

While we were still sinners, Christ died for us

1. Let’s talk about sin.

Romans 3: 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of

God,

2. Sin provokes God’s love into action Romans 5:20-21 -

20 The law was brought in so that the trespass might

increase. But where sin increased, [abound] grace increased

[abounds] all the more, 21 so that, just as sin reigned in

death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to

bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Lamentation 3: 22-23 - 22 Because of the Lord’s great love we

are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.

23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

John 13-8, 9 - 8 “No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.”

Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.”

9 “Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not just my feet but my

hands and my head as well!”

Matthew 6: 12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have

forgiven our debtors..

3. You cannot access his grace until you accept his

forgiveness.

Matt 18: 21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how

many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against

me? Up to seven times?”

4. God says ever since the Garden of Eden, I’ve wanted to be

in a loving relationship with humanity.

5. God said his love is so deep he will give everything. John

3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only son

that whosoever believes in him shall not die but have

everlasting life.

6. How do you know you have accepted his love? John 13: 34

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have

loved you, so you must love one another.

7. We love him because he first loved us and we show that love

to others by forgiveness. 1 John 4:19-20 We love because

he first loved us. 20 Whoever claims to love God yet hates a

brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their

brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God,

whom they have not seen.

1. Accept him as your personal savior

2. Come back to him from drifting away.

3. Connect with a community of believers.
