Pericope: Luke 19:37-40 37 When he came near the place where the
road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples
began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had
seen: 38 “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” 39 Some of the Pharisees in
the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!” 40 “I tell
you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”

Mark 11:9, 10 9 Those who went ahead and those who followed
shouted, “Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the
Lord!” 10 “Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!”
“Hosanna in the highest heaven!”. The interpretation of the verses
hosanna or save now Psalms 118:25-26 - Lord, save us! Lord, grant us
success! 26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. From the
house of the Lord we bless you
Point 1: If you don’t the rocks will! Vs.40 “I tell you,” he replied, “if they
keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”
Point 2: If you don’t, the children will! Vs 14-16 14 The blind and the
lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them. 15 But when the
chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he
did and the children shouting in the temple courts, “Hosanna to the Son
of David,” they were indignant. 16 “Do you hear what these children are
saying?” they asked him. “Yes,” replied Jesus, “have you never read,
“‘From the lips of children and infants you, Lord, have called forth your
praise?”
Point 3: If you don’t the people will! Vs 45-48 45 When Jesus entered
the temple courts, he began to drive out those who were selling. 46 “It is
written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be a house of prayer; but you
have made it ‘a den of robbers.’” 47 Every day he was teaching at the
temple. But the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the leaders
among the people were trying to kill him. 48 Yet they could not find any
way to do it, because all the people hung on his words.
Top Ten Filters on Purpose
1. You have to filter fake friends! Matt 26: 47 While he was still
speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived. With him was a large
crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests
and the elders of the people.
2. You have to filter haters of your purpose! Matt 16: 23 Jesus turned
and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling
block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but
merely human concerns.”
3. You have to differentiate your sense of fame from your call. Luke
22:31-31 “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as
wheat.
4. You have to filter distractions. Josh. 1: 7 “Be strong and very
courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave
you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be
successful wherever you go.
5. You have to filter unbelief. Luke 22: 32 But I have prayed for you,
Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned
back, strengthen your brothers.”
6. You have to filter relationships. Dr. Wallace story
7. You have to filter priorities. Matt 6: 33 But seek first his kingdom
and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as
well.
8. You have to filter your finances. Hag. 1: 6 You have planted much,
but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink,
but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You
earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.”
9. You have to filter the way you feel about yourself. Ps. 90: 12
Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of
wisdom.
10. You have to filter your time. Eph. 5: 16 making the most of
every opportunity, because the days are evil.
