From Promise 2 Practice

Pericope: Hebrews 10:19-25 NIV - 19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Sermon Text: Hebrews 10:23 NIV 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.

Point 1: Progress the Promise – Let your confession reflect your confidence.

Hebrew 10: 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. This explains what we say we believe should shape how we respond when life gets hard. Prov 4:21 Do not let them out of your sight,

   keep them within your heart;

Prov 18: 21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Point 2: Practice the Promise – Let your conduct follow your confession.

Heb 10: 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds,

James 1:22 says “Do not merely listen to the word... Do what it says.”

Point 3: Persist in the Promise –

Heb 10: 36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.

Galatians 6:9 puts it this way don’t grow weary doing good..

Confession 1

God said it

I believe it

I will seek Him first.

I will not worry

I will not swerve

I will stand on His Word because He who promise is faithful

God’s got me—and God’s got a promise for every problem that I have!

Confession 2

“I belong to God.
I have access to my Father.
I will represent Jesus.
I will walk in His Word.
I will trust His promises.
My citizenship is in heaven,
and my hope is in Christ!”
