Jesus Feels Our Struggles

Sermon Notes: Jesus Feels Our Struggles

Focus Scripture:

John 11:33-35

“When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, He was deeply moved in spirit and troubled. Jesus wept.”

  1  Jesus’ Compassionate Engagement

  ◦  Jesus doesn’t just observe our pain – He feels it with us.

  ◦  In His humanity, He entered into the full depth of human suffering.

2  Key Point: Jesus is fully God and fully human, which means He doesn’t just sympathize; He empathizes with our struggles. (Hebrews 4:15)

3  The Heart of God Revealed

  ◦  Jesus’ tears show God’s heart for human suffering.

  ◦  God is not indifferent to our pain. Jesus expresses God's sorrow over death, sin, and suffering.

4  Key Point: Jesus' tears reflect God's deep grief over the brokenness of the world. (Genesis 6:5-6, Jeremiah 8:18-22)

  5  Empathy in Redemption

  ◦  Jesus’ empathy is central to His mission of redemption.

  ◦  Through His tears, He identifies with our pain to bring us healing and victory over death.

6  Key Point: Jesus suffers with us to redeem us and restore us. (Isaiah 53:3-4)

Application

  •  Jesus doesn’t just see or sympathize with your struggles—He feels them.

  •  When we weep, He weeps with us and walks with us through our pain. (Matthew 27:46)
