Sermon Title: Going Deeper – Don’t Walk Alone!
Elder Sherry McDonald
Point 1: The _________ of the Holy Spirit –
- A _________ Who _________ and _________ – John 14:26
In John 14:26, Jesus told his disciples, “the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in
my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have
said to you” (John 14:26, ESV).
- Dwells in _________ and _________ Us – vs1 Corinthians 3: 16-17(MSG)
16-17 You realize, don’t you, that you are the temple of God, and God himself is
present in you? No one will get by with vandalizing God’s temple, you can be sure of
that. God’s temple is sacred—and you, remember, are the temple.
- Guides to All _________ and _________ to What is to _________. – John 16:13-
15 (MSG)
12-15 “I still have many things to tell you, but you can’t handle them now. But when the
Friend comes, the Spirit of the Truth, he will take you by the hand and guide you into
all the truth there is. He won’t draw attention to himself, but will make sense out of
what is about to happen and, indeed, out of all that I have done and said. He will
honor me; he will take from me and deliver it to you. Everything the Father has is
also mine. That is why I’ve said, ‘He takes from me and delivers to you.’
- Helps in our _________ and _________ for us – vs Romans 8:26-28 (MSG 26-
28 Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside
helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does
our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching
groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant
condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that
every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.
Point 2: The _________ of the Holy spirit – vs John 16:5-7 (AMP)
5 “But now I am going to Him who sent Me; and none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You
going?’ 6 But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your hearts [and
taken complete possession of them]. 7 But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go
away; for if I do not go away, the [a] Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor,
Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him (the Holy Spirit) to
you [to be in close fellowship with you].
- The presence of the Holy Spirit is the presence of _________.
- God’s Presence _________ Us – vs 2 Corinthians 3:17-18 (AMP) 17 Now the Lord
is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty [emancipation from
bondage, true freedom]. 18 And we all, with unveiled face, continually seeing as in a
mirror the glory of the Lord, are progressively being transformed into His image from
[one degree of] glory to [even more] glory, which comes from the Lord, [who is] the
Spirit.
- God’s Presence Develops _________ - vs Matthew 28:20; 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
- God’s Presence produces _________ & _________
The Bible reveals to us in multiple places that the Kingdom of God is within the Spirit
of God.
17 for the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking [what one likes], but of
righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. (Romans 14:17 AMP).
Point 3: The _________ & _________ the Holy Spirit – vs 1 Corinthians 2:10-11 10 these
things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the
depths of God. 11 For who knows a person's thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
- The Holy Spirit Reveals the _________ _________ of God.
- The Holy Spirit _________ us _________ - vs Acts 1:8
8 But you will receive power and ability when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and
you will be My witnesses [to tell people about Me] both in Jerusalem and in all Judea,
and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth.”
- _________ and _________ Good _________ in Our Lives – vs Galatians 5:18-25
Galatians 5:18-19 states that … 18 But if you are guided and led by the Spirit, you are not subject
to the Law. 19 Now the practices of the [c] sinful nature are clearly evident: they are sexual
immorality, impurity, sensuality (total irresponsibility, lack of self-control), and goes on, but if you drop down to vs 22 it says.. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control.
