testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. (NIV)
Sermon Title: A Mission Mindset
Matthew 24:14 that reads …And this gospel of the kingdom will be
preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will
come,
POINT ONE: In order for us to understand our role, we should first understand
our mission.
Matthew 28:16 (NIV) 16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain
where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but
some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and
on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I
am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Commission is a noun which means
1. the act of committing or entrusting a person, group, etc., with supervisory
power or authority.
Mindset. Now that we understand what the mission is defined as, what about the
word mindset. Mindset is a noun which means
1. a fixed attitude or disposition, or mood
Put this together and a “mission mindset” is a way of thinking and operating that
is deeply rooted in a clear and compelling purpose or objective.
John 6:4- “For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes
in him shall have eternal life and I will raise them up at the last day”.
Their accomplishments were as follows:
1. Spreading the gospel
2. Founding the early church
3. Eyewitness testimony
4. Authorship of new testament writings
5. Demonstrating transformative faith
6. Establishing apostolic succession
Mark 16:15 “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation”
POINT TWO – The mission continues to be global and big and the end will come.
Matthew 24:14 reads …And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the
whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
John 6:4- “For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes
in him shall have eternal life and I will raise them up at the last day”. According
to Revelation 21:5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making
everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy
and true.” 6 He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the
Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring
of the water of life. 7 Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their
God and they will be my children. 8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the
murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and
all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the
second death.” It goes on a little further to show us about the names in the book
of life in Revelation 21:27 Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who
does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the
Lambs book of Life
We must have a mantra that requires:
1. Inspiration and Motivation
2. Beyond profit
3. Humility and Service
4. Action Oriented
5. Accountability
LIFE APPLICATION - Here’s our life application
a. Remember “he who wins souls is wise” or Proverbs 11:30 The fruit of the
righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives
