Sermon Title: The Best Man

BP: Move the hearers to be the best man

Introduction: God is always looking for a man to shoulder the

weight of leadership\. Gas has always been looking foa a man to

shoulder the example of righteousness.

Genesis 3:8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of

the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the

day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the

garden.  9 But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”

10 He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was

afraid because I was naked; so I hid.” 11 And he said, “Who told

you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I

commanded you not to eat from?”

Genesis 18:26 The Lord said, “If I find fifty righteous people in the

city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake.”

Psalms 106:23 So he said he would destroy them had not

Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him to keep

his wrath from destroying them.

In the movie we see the search for the Best Man has its

challenges, just like in the scriptures. Sometimes art does imitate

life. In this case I want you to look through the lens of the movie to

see the biblical criteria to be the best man…..

Point 1: The Burden of Expectation Proverbs 16:19 Better to

be lowly in spirit along with the oppressed than to share plunder

with the proud.

Point 2: The brotherhood of Community

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 Two are better than one, because they have

a good return for their labor:10 If either of them falls down, one

can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one

to help them up.

Point 3: The breaking of personal pain

Psalm 34:18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves

those who are crushed in spirit.

Point 4: The power of forgiveness

Ephesians 4:32 Be kind and compassionate to one another,

forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Point 5: Embracing Leadership and Purpose

Proverbs 18:21 Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is

the LORD’s purpose that prevails.
