Sermon Title: Destiny by Design

Pericope: Psalm 139:13-18 ESV - 13 For you formed my inward

parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb.

14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. [a]

Wonderful are your works;

  my soul knows it very well.

15 My frame was not hidden from you,

when I was being made in secret,

  intricately woven in the depths of the earth.

16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance;

in your book were written, every one of them,

  the days that were formed for me,

  when as yet there was none of them.

17 How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!

  How vast is the sum of them!

18 If I would count them, they are more than the sand.

  I awake, and I am still with you.

Sermon Text: Psa. 139: 14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and

wonderfully made. [a]

Wonderful are your works;

  my soul knows it very well.

Point 1: Identity is Imprinted – vs. 13 For you formed my inward

parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb.

Theologically and biblically Jeremiah 1: 5; 18: 4 put it this way

before I formed you I knew you 18: 4 and the vessel he was

making of clay was in his hands and he formed it into what

seemed good to the Potter to do.

Paul put it this way in Romans 12: 1, 2 I appeal to you therefore,

brothers, [a] by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a

living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual

worship. [b]  2 Do not be conformed to this world, [c] but be

transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you

may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable

and perfect.

Point 2: Destiny is Detailed – vs. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed

substance;

in your book were written, every one of them,

  the days that were formed for me,

  when as yet there was none of them.

all the days ordained for me are written

Romans 8: 29, 30 ESV - 29 For those whom he foreknew he

also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in

order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And

those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he

called he also justified, and those whom he justified he

also glorified.

Ephesians 2: 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ

Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we

should walk in them.

Point 3: Design is Divine vs. 17-18 - 17 How precious to me are

your thoughts, O God!

  How vast is the sum of them!

18 If I would count them, they are more than the sand.

  I awake, and I am still with you.

Vs 1-9 - O Lord, you have searched me and known me!

2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up;

  you discern my thoughts from afar.

3 You search out my path and my lying down

  and are acquainted with all my ways.

4 Even before a word is on my tongue,

  behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.

5 You hem me in, behind and before,

  and lay your hand upon me.

6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;

  it is high; I cannot attain it.

7 Where shall I go from your Spirit?

  Or where shall I flee from your presence?

8 If I ascend to heaven, you are there!

  If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!

9 If I take the wings of the morning

  and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,

Isaiah 49: 16 - Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my

hands;

  your walls are continually before me.

Luke 12: 7- 7 Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered.

Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.

LifeChanger Declaration

I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I am heaven's workmanship.

My destiny is detailed, my design is divine, and today I will live on

purpose!
