PULL UP — PART 2 YOU CAN’T CANCEL THE COOKOUT

Sermon Text: Luke 14:15–24 NIV

PULL UP — PART 2 YOU CAN’T CANCEL THE COOKOUT

POINT ONE — YOU KNEW THE COOKOUT WAS COMING Luke 14:16–17 says: “A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests. At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’”

POINT TWO — YOUR EXCUSE DOESN’T EXCUSE YOUR REJECTION Luke 14:18 contains one of the saddest sentences in the parable: “But they all alike began to make excuses.”

POINT THREE — THE LAMB IS ON THE MENU Exodus 12:3 says: “Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb for his family, one for each household.”

Then Exodus 12:7 says: “Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs.”

And Exodus 12:8 says: “That same night they are to eat the meat roasted over the fire, along with bitter herbs, and bread made without yeast.”

POINT FOUR — YOU CAN’T CANCEL THE COOKOUT Luke 14:21 says: “The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry.”

God does not treat rejection casually.
